New Hearts Outreach
In 1999 at the invitation of Pastor Abe Brown, New Hearts Outreach was founded. The name reflects the scripture found in Ezekiel 36:26 which states “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you.” The mission of New Hearts Outreach is “Glorifying God by Connecting the Sexually and Relationally Challenged to Jesus Christ.” New Hearts Outreach is the Tampa Bay Affiliate ministry of Exodus International; an international network of Christian Ministries providing resources and support to those whose lives have been impacted by homosexuality. NHO offers weekly confidential support groups, one-on-one discipleship and healing prayer and referral to licensed Christian counselors. We also provide speakers for church and community events.
NHO has been featured in a television documentary produced by the BBC and has been invited to present at state conferences. In 2003 we received a “High Impact Award” from Somebody Cares Tampa Bay. We have offered the 26-week Living Waters Discipleship Program for 10 years and have hosted guest speakers like Gayle Haggard (wife of Ted Haggard), Dr. Nancy Heche (mother of actress Anne Heche), Mike Haley of Focus On the Family, Dr. Jerry Newcombe of Coral Ridge Ministries and this year, Dr. Julie Harren-Hamilton, current national president of NARTH (National Association of Research & Therapy of Homosexuality) and Dennis Jernigan, Dove-Award-winning composer, author and worship leader.
We are currently seeking the Lord for guidance and resources to move toward a vision the Lord gave in 1996 for a large spiritual renewal center. The components will include a worship center; a residential recovery center; a broadcast center and a creative arts center.
