Start Something

We want to thank you for your interest in developing and leading a new microchurch. It is appropriate that you know in advance that part of this process includes assessing whether or not you might qualify as an Elder (micro church leader). The Bible offers certain requirements for Elders, such as those found in 1 Timothy and Titus. When we review the various biblical passages on the qualifications of a leader, it is important to note that approximately two-thirds of them are character qualifications and one-third functional qualifications (how well can you do the job). Therefore, the elders will take your character development as well as ministry experience into consideration when making this decision.

The Underground is an innovative church concept that embodies some of the best features of both a world class nonprofit and a vibrant church family. There are several opportunities for young, energetic and curious interns. We offer internships in all our departments as well as an intern community that not only delivers marketable skills but also meaningful friendship and genuine care.

We do not just use our interns, while they do work, our commitment to our interns is that you will get as much as you give and we see our internships as much about serving and developing you as we do you serving our organizational mission. While we are flexible and each person is considered individually we generally like our interns to serve between 10-20 hours a week, for a period of 4-12 month.

You can expect a weekly development time (where we pour into you) a real education into spiritual leadership, nonprofit team dynamics and nonprofit management. You can also expect to make a meaningful contribution to the UNDERGROUND and its mission and learn tangible skills that will serve you for years to come.

If you agree wholeheartedly with the Manifesto, believe in the mission and work of the Underground, and want to work and serve more closely on our staff team, there are internship opportunities available in 6 areas that offer different developmental deliverables.

  • Non Profit Administration and Finance
  • Facilities Management
  • Communication, Marketing and Media
  • Design and Creative
  • Education and Training
  • Coaching, Counseling and Care

Interns will be considered members of the staff team and therefore expected to conduct themselves with the same professionalism and integrity both inside and outside the office.
